Will Dirk stay?
Dirk has a big decision to make. Rafa and Inter want him and Liverpool seem willing to listen to offers. If Roy Hodgson had said a firm NO to Inter, I'm sure Dirk would not leave. However when your club shows a willingness to trade, it's a different story. I'm amazed that Roy is willing to sell Dirk as he is exactly the kind of player the manager likes. If Dirk leaves, we at the Dutch Branch, will be truly sorry. He is the heartbeat of our club and I really hope he stays. If he goes, it's with our thanks and very best wishes.

City millionaires spank Reds
The gap between the rich clubs and the rest was highlighted last night as Man. City easily beat the Reds. We defended badly but with sub standard players like Lucas and Glen Johnson, it's hardly surprising. Danny Agger looked like he was still concussed and was slaughtered by the brilliant Adam Johnson. He cost only 7 million, why didn't we bid? Torres is way off fitness and it's utterly ridiculous that N'gog starts ahead of Ryan Babbel. It's time for Stevie to stop taking corners, Jovanavic or Aurelio have much better dead ball delivery. Our captain lurking on the edge of the box would make us a much more dangerous proposition. It should be noted that Stevie was our best player yet again last night. If only we had a few more with his heart!

The magnificent Danny Agger

Danny Agger played at left back on Sunday and he was brilliant. We know he is great, but what courage he showed against the Arsenal. He was hit by the ball full in the face during the second half, suffering severe concussion. Mike Kennedy, Dutch Branch chairman, was very close to Danny when he was being treated and he told me that Agger was really in a bad way. It was astonishing that, after 5 minutes treatment, he was back on the pitch. Liverpool's doctor was clearly worried and with good reason. Danny remembers nothing of the match and is not training at the moment. How he got through the match is a mystery. Great player and a true Red. Get well soon, Dan!

Big new signing on the way
There will be an announcement this week regarding a new striker for Liverpool. He is top quality and a name that will surprise us all. I'm only guessing but......could it be Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Adebayor? Arshavin? If it's tied to Masch leaving then Ibrahimovic could be the one. Barca can't afford Masch or, indeed, Zlatan's wages. We have little cash too, so perhaps a deal could be struck to suit everybody. If it's Adebayor, I feel the deal would have already been done. Arshavin could be a wild card. My Arsenal spies tell me he is keen to play for Liverpool, they feel he's lazy and often unmotivated. Given what he has done to us recently, I would have him! I doubt it's Huntelaar as that deal would also have gone through already. No, it has to be Ibrahimovitch and wouldn't that be a statement of intent!

Very good effort against Arsenal
The Reds earned a fine point against the Gunners in the first game of the new season. New signing Joe Cole was sent off in the last minute of the first half, leaving Liverpool to play 45mins with 10 men against the best passing team in England. David N'gog's fine strike 2 minutes into the second half really fired up the Redmen. A late mishap by Pepe cost the win, but it was a magnificent effort by the boys. Roy Hodgson clearly has the team fighting together once again. It was great to see the spirit restored, last season the players had obviously given up on Rafa. A very promising start, bring on the mercenaries of man. city.
